Whitebeck Court, Manchester

Northward Housing awarded the contract to refurbish Whitebeck Court, a flagship retirement housing scheme, to Wates Living Space. The scheme also provides day care services to residents and the local community. The refurbishment was designed to achieve BREEAM ‘Excellence’.

There was a requirement to install solar panels on a section of the flat roof and covering a large part of the south façade.

The technical team at Myriad CEG designed a stand-off roof mounted system (using 34 Sanyo 215HIP panels) with a total power of 7.31 kWp and a Schuco Facade system (using 102 Sharp NU180W panels) and a total power of 18.36 kWp to meet the architectural specifications and the 25 kWp target. To meet the programme deadline set by Wates Living Space, the facade system was successfully installed over a period of 4 weeks in April 2010 and the roof system was installed in December 2010.

Testimonial, Jim Duffy, Wates Living Space:

“In my experience of Myriad CEG over the last 18 months or so, I have always found them helpful, informative, prompt, reliable and professional in their response and approach. They also provided an excellent service on a recently completed scheme, Whitebeck Court. On this flagship project for the Northwest, their works were a key element in achieving the client's environmental aspirations.”
