The overall PV system had to meet a minimum output of 27,556kWh per annum, as per the stipulations of Part L, Planning and CODE 3. As the building was located in a built-up area, solar PV was the preferred option for reneable energy and Myriad CEG Power Ltd was commissioned to use their expertise and install PV panels on this high street commercial retail unit in the town centre of Kingston.
The Benefits
- Predicted Output: 28,605kWh per annum
- Estimated CO2 saving: 14,538 kgs per annum
- Feed-in Tariff rate: 32.9p per kWh
- Estimated FiT income: £9,411.04 per annum
The Solution
To provide 28 x Sharp 185W panels mounted on the facade at the back of the building and 128 Sanyo 240W panels on the main roof mounted on Schletter alulight 12 degree ballasted frames.
Due to the limited roof space, the high specification Sanyo panel was needed to meet the specified output and Myriad CEG Power Ltd used the lightweight Schletter alulight system to keep the ballast to a minimum on the single ply membrane roof. This solution was highly successful and the client was extremely happy with the overall output of the project, which is predicted to be over 1000 kWh more than the original minimum requirement.
Neil Ware, Project Manager, Galliford Try Plc
“The team we had from Myriad, both managerial and site based were proactive in how they approached the job and delivered a high standard throughout. I will be recommending Myriad for any future works we have involving PV panels".
