The Government announced in July 2009 the details of the Feed-in Tariff (FIT) for small wind and solar PV which went into law from April 2010. In summary, the Feed-in Tariff provides all generators of renewable energy with a higher rate of income from all their generated power than they previously received and significantly higher than the cost of purchasing electricity from the grid, making renewable energy systems very economic.
You can apply for the FIT through your current electricity supplier or another FIT licensee. See the OFGEM website for approved suppliers. We recommend you start your application process shortly after ordering your PV system, this then ensures you receive your FIT income as soon as possible once your system is fully commissioned.
Each FIT licensee has a slightly different application process with the majority asking you to complete an application form detailing your system and site details. Once fully commissioned, we will provide you with an MCS certificate (if sub 50kW). The FIT licensee will need a copy of this and require proof of ownership.
